North Platte Telegraph, 10 April 1884
On Wednesday, April 9, 1884, of paralysis and rheumatism,
Mary Brown, wife of William J. Stuart, aged 27 years, 6 months and 29
days.
The spring of 1884 will long be remembered by the writer as a time
when Death was more than usually busy with friends who virtues were
great and whose characters shone bright among their large circles of
associates. Mrs. KEITH, Mrs. NEVILLE, Mrs. STUART; where in our city
can the Dread Destroyer find another trio like them? His search will
not be a short one.
Mrs. Stuart, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Brown, came to
this city in its early days. As a young lady, as a wife, she ever
held the esteem of those about her. Her disposition was sweet, kind,
loving and generous. She was a consistent, working Christian, a
member of the Episcopal communion. Her death is particularly sad.
From ordinary good health, she became, some ten days ago, instantly
helpless, every moment ready to topple over eternity's brink, and,
unable to talk, denied the poor privilege of bidding her loved ones
a last, fond, loving farewell. She leaves three sons, all less than
four years old, a loving husband, parents, brothers and sister.
The funeral will be tomorrow, Friday at 2 o'clock from the Church
of Our Savior, Rev. Grahm officiating.
